Operating a business while staying dedicated to community service comes with its share of serious challenges. In the words of Hilario, representative of El Agave, human capital is the backbone of any enterprise: "Human resources are the most expensive and most valuable asset; if payroll isn't managed properly, the business can go under." Despite facing complex obstacles, including workplace commitment challenges and enduring three break-ins at their location, El Agave’s dedication to serving others remains steadfast.
Rather than stepping back in the face of adversity, El Agave Supermarket has amplified its social impact by becoming a strategic ally of the Wayanuha Foundation and forming a collaborative partnership with 1 Powerhouse.
As part of this joint effort, family grocery distributions take place every Tuesday to assist local families in need, frequently utilizing the supermarket’s parking lot as a central distribution point. A clear example of this ongoing work occurred on June 30, 2026, when dozens of families received direct food assistance thanks to the organizations' combined logistics.
Founded in 2015 by Jason and Demi Oche, 1 Powerhouse was born out of a shared passion to serve others. After running successful businesses in their respective fields, the newly married couple stepped outside their professional realms to give back to the community in a mighty way, giving all honor to God for the vision to help grow and strengthen their neighborhood.
