The Fundación Wayanuha ME Inc., together with Lumalali Limón, have joined efforts with the goal of improving the computer laboratory at Abel Gonzales Caballero School in the community of Limón, Colón. This initiative was created to provide students with a functional and supportive technological learning environment that can better prepare them for the demands of today’s educational and professional world.

Prior to this developmental project, the computer lab required several important improvements in order to operate efficiently and provide students with greater access to technology. These needs included repairing or replacing the air conditioning system, which is essential for preserving the equipment and maintaining a comfortable learning environment for students. In addition, the existing computers needed to undergo an evaluation process to determine which units could be repaired and restored for student use.
Through the generosity, donations, and support of community members in both Honduras and the United States, computers have already been received to help advance this initiative. These contributions have played a vital role in supporting the development of the computer laboratory and expanding educational opportunities for students within the community. However, additional computers are still needed in order to fully equip the laboratory and ensure that every student has access to the technological resources necessary for learning and growth. The project also seeks to secure internet service for a period of twelve months, allowing students to access online educational resources, conduct research, and strengthen their digital and technological skills. Fundación Wayanuha ME Inc. also hopes to provide an additional fifteen computers so that every student in the class will have the opportunity to use a computer during instructional time.
The overall purpose of this effort is to provide young people with the tools they need to succeed in a world where technology has become increasingly essential in education, communication, and career development. By improving access to technology and digital learning opportunities, this project aims to open doors to greater academic achievement, personal growth, and future professional opportunities for the students and future generations of the Limón community.
